Questions we get

How do parents see their child's behavior points?
Parents see every point their child earns in a free LiveSchool family account, either in a web browser or the iOS and Android app. The activity feed shows each behavior, who recognized it, when, and any comment the teacher left, plus the child's point balance, house standing, and rewards they have claimed. A weekly recap email summarizes the week so families stay in the loop without logging in.
What languages does LiveSchool support for families?
LiveSchool currently supports English, Spanish, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Vietnamese, Arabic, Tagalog, Korean, Russian, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, French, Somali, Urdu, Hmong, Bengali, Japanese, German, Polish, Amharic, Swahili, Nepali, Burmese, Persian. Need a language not listed? Just let us know!
Do families need to download an app?
Families are welcome to download our iOS or Android app, but LiveSchool works great from any web browser, too!
How do families get signed up?
There are two ways. If you have family email addresses already, import them to LiveSchool then send out a welcome email. You can also use our QR code access sheets. Families scan their code and register their profile.
Is LiveSchool free for parents?
Yes. LiveSchool is always free for parents, guardians, and students. Schools pay only for staff users, so there is no cost to a family for an account, the mobile app, or the weekly recap email.
Do you offer two-way messaging?
Currently, LiveSchool offers one-way communication of classroom feedback to families. Two-way messaging with families is currently on our roadmap.
How is LiveSchool different from ClassDojo, ParentSquare, or Remind?
Messaging platforms need someone to write a message before a family receives anything. LiveSchool is a behavior and PBIS system first, so families see recognition automatically, straight from what teachers are already doing during the day. It’s like an automatic positive phone call home every week, sharing positive and constructive feedback with families.
Is LiveSchool more equitable than ClassDojo?
Yes. Unlike ClassDojo, LiveSchool provides all features to families at no charge. ClassDojo restricts what parents can access, and sells paid add-ons to families that can lead to inequities in access based on a family’s ability to pay.
How much staff time does this take?
Once your staff are using LiveSchool for points, rewards, House Points, or hall passes, there is no extra work needed to share classroom activity with families. Just register families, and they’ll be able to view the information you share via LiveSchool.
